Google Fiber Ditching TV Service in New Cities
Interested in trying out Google Fiber when information technology becomes available in Louisville or San Antonio? It won't be long earlier you accept the opportunity, but Google this week announced information technology will not offer traditional TV as function of its gigabit internet Fiber offerings in either city.
"More and more than people are moving abroad from traditional methods of viewing television content," Cathy Fogler, head of sales and marketing at Google Access, wrote in a Midweek blog post. "Customers today want to command what, where, when, and how they become content. They desire to do it their way, and we want to help them."
She added that "more than and more" customers are choosing internet-only options when signing upward for Google Fiber.
"Whether it's through YouTube TV, Hulu, Netflix, or more specific targeted services – there are so many ways to watch what you want, when you desire it," Fogler wrote. "And Google Cobweb's superfast Net allows customers to make the nigh of all these streaming choices by providing the bandwidth to use multiple devices and apps at the same time."
Fiber customers in Louisville and San Antonio will have to purchase Television service elsewhere or cut the cord. Google will proceed to offering TV as office of its Fiber offerings in cities where it's already available.
The news comes afterward Google terminal October downsized its Fiber division, hobbling the search giant'southward vi-twelvemonth-old experiment in becoming an internet service provider.
